to see samples of Jake Toups art work, a painting by Casey Sehon and
popcorn art by Alex Tanner. For this assignment, the student glues
some popcorn to a black background. Then they sketch the popcorn in
chalk. That is followed by using their imagination to draw familiar
objects from the popcorn shapes.

For this project, a black and white photograph has vertical strips
removed from it. The student then sketches in the missing pieces.

The teacher gives the student a canvas with different color splotches
on it and lets them create whatever they can by adding their own
painting on top. See the 2003-04 art projects by

Normally, it has a value that runs from 25 to 75
cents a pound. But look how our artists turned mere ounces of metal
into priceless art! Warning!!! Some
of these images are very graphic in nature and should not be viewed by
people with Myrmecophobia, Entomophobia, and especially Herpetophobia.
If this warning hasn't scared you away, then proceed to the art
gallery by clicking the Musca Domestica below!

So what does an art student do when the teacher
hands them a canvas with paint splatters on it? Well you know the
saying..."If they give you lemons, make lemonade". Check out what our
creative artists came up with!

Art isn't just about color... you have to be
able to draw in black and white too! This project is called mini
still-life drawings. The students glued everyday objects to a poster
board and drew them paying close attention to dark and light values
and shadows. The students used an ebony pencil to complete the
drawings. Click Here!
Sometimes artists learn more by looking at
themselves. Here are self-portraits by some of our art students.

One way to learn to draw the human form is to
study the underlying structure beneath the skin. For this project, the
students had a not so live model in the classroom.

For this particular lesson, the students studied
artist Clementine Hunter's watercolor paintings and her ceramics and
gave a try at copying her work in both styles. See how they did
here!
The students used sculpting foil to create
African Tribal Masks. See the masks
